Third generation only. 2G is updated to 6.2.1 with no new icons, no Beats, etc.

iOS 8 style? By that you mean flat icons I suppose. I’m still at a point where I’m largely disappointed apple hasn’t moved Apple TV further. I wish watches were a hobby, and Apple TV meant something more than adding flat icons and Beats applications.
Open it up to devs already. I want a plex channel. I want to see what other things people cook up, rather than Apple playing gatekeeper.
Isn’t that the one people will pay more than $100 for on eBay? If so, sell it, and buy the current one. Problem solved.
Probably best to wait until the October cleanup launch event to be sure a new Apple TV doesn’t get launched if your thinking of upgrading the gen 2.
Anyone get peer to peer AirPlay to work? Wasn’t iOS 8 and new Apple TV supposed to enable that? I can’t get it to work and can’t find any documentation on it.

I have ripped all my DVDs onto my Mac Mini acting as an iTunes server, that way they kids dont scratch them and they are available to everyone in the house on the 3 Apple TVs, plus laptops, iPads, etc.
The problem is that you have say 10 TV programs each with 10 series and you then have a scroll list of 100 items to get through. 20 TV shows would give you 200 series to scroll through.

Yes. Extremely disappointed. The 3rd Gen needs a refresh badly so there’s no incentive for 2G owners to upgrade right now.
i have to disagree about the interface. I would rather see it actually emulate the other iOS UI. In appearance and function. That whole music/tv/movies going to the store drives me nuts. Instinct would say those should be just like on the iPad, containing our music/tv/movies with a link to the store. Not making us look in ‘computers’ for our stuff. Heck if they could find a way to combine the two so our home videos are just a tab of Movies even better.
And give us the same download what you want control like standard iOS has. I’m not saying open up a full store, they can still limit it to music, tv, etc apps. but let us decide what is there instead of just saying ‘well you can restrict it and hide it’. (on the flip side, let us restrict all apps on the other iOS devices as well)
and make the remote app work as a full remote to control the home screen and not just music lists etc
It sounds like you’re not using Season numbers in iTunes.
