Even though you have to sign-up to watch this keynote, I would recommend you do it. I was at the event yesterday and I just love Legere. He’s crazy as a bag of hammers, but he speaks bluntly and honestly about today’s carrier market. If you don’t want to watch the video, you can read the press release.
T-Mobile’s John Legere delivers Un-carrier 7 keynote
Of all people, a Canadian should know it’s loons that are crazy. A bag of hammers may be dumb but not that crazy.
Is their WiFi calling compatible with any WiFi, or just the WiFi off their “Full-Bars” device?
Should be with any WiFi. Some Android devices already have it and the Full Bars hub is new. The iPhone 6 and 6Plus will be able to WiFi call as well.
Legere’s craziness, show or not, is one of the reasons I chose T-Mobile when I switched from Virgin Mobile to a larger carrier.
I can’t shake the idea that Legere is going to end up a wanted man in Belize, with his own private army.
I was going to say, that’s a … unique colloquialism.
“Dumb as a bag of hammers”, yes.
Crazy… what?
(Note: I have handled a bag of hammers. It is, in fact, dumb.)
“Mr. Legere? He dead.”
Any WiFi. You just don’t get the benefit of voice packets being prioritized unless you’re on a CellSpot.
Theoretically it should be possible to configure your own (higher-end, non-Apple) router to behave the same way, but Legere talking about patenting their method makes it sound like they’re doing something weird and outside of IETF standards.
There’s no verification, so any old email address will do, though you do have to listen to the music.
T-Mobile’s at the top of my non-MNVO list.
You weren’t kidding, Mr. D. Ten minutes into this, I wish I could save it for later. I like this guy.
