Jony Ive talks Apple Watch after the keynote
Following yesterday’s keynote, and after the regular press had all gone, ABC News’ David Muir had a chance to talk about the Apple Watch with Apple Senior Vice President of Design, Jony Ive.
Jony seems almost flustered. Not nearly the same smooth delivery as in the production videos.
Why was this cut off at the 2 minute mark? Clear he keeps talking, and I was interested in his answer.
Hence why he’s never on stage.
Yeah, he may also be different in different situations. Find the recent Charlie Rose piece. He’s much better with a first class interviewer like Charlie Rose, and with his mate Marc Newsom by his side. Him and Marc were sitting together at the keynote.
It’s scripted and polished and rehearsed versus spontaneous, on the spot, top of the head responding. This time, we only heard him in that long video during the keynote rather than see him. And the interviewer’s questions weren’t exactly much chop, either.
“Jony seems almost flustered. Not nearly the same smooth delivery as in the production videos.” I’ve talked to Ive several times. It’s just the way he talks.
He’s not flustered. He’s English. So am I. That’s confident, thoughtful speech. He’s not talking in soundbites because he’s having a real conversation.
Because the whole interview will be on ABC later.
If you lived in a pure white room all the time, you’d have a tough time adjusting, too. Glad they let him out.
The last question, how do design something before people know they want it, got chuckle from Cook and was cut-off. This will be interesting to hear about when ABC finally releases the full video.
This might be the first time I’ve seen Ive interviewed where he’s not studied and rehearsed. I love this guy. I think I could work for this guy, had I the talent.
LOL, Classic. Really funny.
