The iPod classic plays its last

Macworld:

With the death of the iPod classic, we witness the last of the original 5GB white iPod’s line. No more hard drive. No more squarish screen. No more wheel control.

And, no surprise.

True but there’s still nostalgia for the little thing.

  1. I love having a 160GB Classic in my glove box. It holds my complete library. When it dies I will really miss having that much capacity.

  2. Kind of saddens me actually. My son loves his Nexus phone but still preferred his old iPhone for music. When it died I bought him a 160GB (a doff of the cap to Tom Tubbiola) which he now loves. It holds one metric of music, the battery lasts for days, and it’s paired with a pretty sweet set of over the ear AKGs.

  3. I use my classic every day. I bought a second two years ago because I saw the writing on the wall. Would like a third one. Off to check Amazon….

  4. i remember getting one of the first iPods that played video, ripping some DVDs to have movies on the flight to Australia. Seems I might have made it through one movie before giving up on big movies on that tiny square screen! United offered a dock connector thingie to plug into their system, but it was way more than i wanted to spend for my couple flights that year.

My favorite iPod was the 3rd Gen with the red touch buttons on the front. Really beautiful using it in a darkened room. But I wouldn’t go back from my iPhones!

    RIP iPod Classic.
