Amazing. It’ll be interesting to see how big this line gets. If anyone is in NYC and happens by the 5th avenue Apple Store, please tweet me (@davemark) with the current line count. I’ll retweet.
Fans already lining up for iPhone 6 at NYC Apple Store

not sure where lining up – thus far the announcement precludes availability by a week or more?
I’ll be pleasantly surprised if Apple actually has something to sell on announcement day.
Blind lust.
It’s PR by companies paying these people to camp out wearing t-shirts with the company names on them. It’s been that way for a few launches now. Would be interesting to know what the companies are paying the people to do camp out, if it’s not their own company. Maybe they get a free iPhone out of it.
It would be really funny if whatever product isn’t available right away.
Yeah it’s not based on anything. Apple has never released a good product, so why would they start now right?
Give me a break.

They are lining up for a device they have no idea about: blind.
They are lining up a week before the announcement of the device with no idea when it is coming out: lust.

I wouldn’t say they have no idea about it.
They might not know the exact details of how it’ll be better, but saying they have no idea would only be valid if this weren’t an improvement on an existing product. You know the details of the new OS, you know the hardware itself will be better than the one on the iPhone 5S, you know that it’ll likely be twice as fast… And you know that the company is known for the quality of the products they release, so you can be sure that you’re not getting a piece of crap phone.
I’m not sure I’d call that blind.
And if it turned out to be crap, they haven’t paid for it yet; they can just turn around and leave.
I won’t quibble with the “lust” thing, though; you’re absolutely right there.
P.S. Long-time lurker; I love your comments here, and sometimes come here just to see what you have to say on an article; you’re often the one who offers an opposing viewpoint, but it’s always rational and thoughtful. There’s no hate, name-calling or trolling, and those who accuse you of it are letting their emotions cloud their judgement.
“When”.
Because I can’t remember the last time an iPhone was available day-of-announcement*.
(* And I’m too lazy to look it up.)
True. They do know that piece of it so let’s say Hazy Lust since they can see an iPhone but can’t make out the specifics. 😀
Thx on the kind words. Much appreciated.
Without having to sit through twinkie interviews, I’d love to have a list of those companies as ones to avoid.
