Great tip to add great value to your press release

Follow the link. It’s simple, but a great idea. [Hat tip to iOS Dev Weekly]

  1. I’m not sure why putting the onus on the receiver in all cases is such a great idea. (i.e., “if you want to read my pitch, send me email, if you don’t, click one of these buttons”). What’s wrong with either reading or ignoring something?

  2. There is no “unsubscribe”. Perhaps the “Spam” button implies that, but it’s certainly not clear.

I also don’t see how the relevant/not relevant buttons are options for anybody who hasn’t yet read the press release.

Sorry, I’m just not feeling it.

  3. Unsolicited email has always put the onus on the receiver. An “unsubscribe” button, while also usually at the bottom of every such email, might not be a bad addition to this.

“Relevant/not relevant” isn’t strictly for the receiver, but might help the sender determine whether they’ve bought the wrong mailing list.

Do you get a lot of press releases?
