Reminds me a bit of a similar announcement made at my last day job, several months before our entire division was “realigned.” That early, the middle managers couldn’t tell us about the layoffs to come, but did everything they could to describe the company’s disappointing revenues, and then hint very broadly about how talented we all were. It’s a good thing Stephen Elop was even more craptastic. Makes Nadella seem empathetic by comparison.
