Did you miss the premiere of HBO’s “The Leftovers”? You can watch the full episode on Yahoo. It’s from one of the creators of Lost, Damon Lindelof. To be fair, it sounds depressing and the reviews of the first four shows have been all over the place but I’ll watch it nonetheless. Did you watch it?
Full episode of HBO’s new show “The Leftovers”
I started watching it until I realised it was that dumb rapture TV show I’d been hearing about. It’s just to insanely stupid of a concept to even think about. Even if we suspend all science and reason and imagine just for a second that “the rapture” could be a real thing … why would anyone want to watch 130 hours of video about the losers that were left behind?
Nope. I wasted six years on Lindelof’s literary-Ponzi-scheme, Lost. Fool me once…
It’s a stupid waste of time.
I laughed at the stupidity more than I do while watching a comedy.
Ah that sucks. I thought maybe they would have kept it away from religion and went another direction. (Aliens maybe?) I’ll just skip it.
This isn’t about any rapture crap. It’s about a family of four—admittedly dysfunctional—and how it deals with this bizarre and extreme situation. You had to somehow “hank in there”, also, with Walt’s family in “Breaking Bad.” So, we’ll see if this series draws any kind of comparable “following.”
Really good production quality, on a par with “Bad”, and excellent casting of some major talent. Very good job from all departments. We just have to see if the story holds up over time.
I just read up a little about this and it is supposedly about the people who remain after the rapture.
I found the first episode incredibly boring, and after learning that they’ll never reveal what happened, I’m even less interested. I might give it a chance if it picks up a Breaking Bad-style following, but otherwise I see it as completely missable.
Maybe we will find that the people who suddenly disappeared, reappeared on an island! Which will answer….
and what tv do you feel isnt a waste of time? newsflash: it all is. its a completely subjective matter of how you choose to waste your time, and comes down to what your personal interests are. anyone who believes otherwise is fooling themselves.
to paraphrase Maximus: were you not entertained?
i was. did i love the ending? no. did the series entertain me for over half a decade? you bet.
yeah, they should have stuck to more credible TV like the living dead, or dragons and ice monsters. nothing someone could find insanely stupid or requiring suspension of disbelief of all science and reason there…..
The purpose of art is to entertain us, or to inspire us, or to encourage us to ask interesting questions.
Many TV shows manage at least one and some all three.
It’s not all the same.
LOL.
I refused to watch a single second of Lost and I still grin at the memory of being vindicated when I read about how it ended.
