Apple’s WWDC banners show iOS 8, next OS X are coming

The Verge:

Apple’s 25th annual developers conference kicks off next week, and as usual, the company’s spent the past week putting up large, colorful banners all over the Moscone West building in San Francisco. That includes large Apple logos to the two sides of the three story building, as well as product banners on the inside of the building.

One of those is a banner with a large 8 on it, the first indication of iOS 8, which is expected at the show.

Join me in saying, “Duh.”

  1. And the clowns at The Verge are still trying to convince themselves as being the pinnacle of tech journalism?

  2. What I’m really looking forward to is OS X 10.10.1, when Apple will innovate in dozens of new Accessibility options that are there simply to make the 10.10.0 redesign barely usable, even for people with zero disabilities. (See iOS 7.1.0.)

  3. Wait. So The Verge suck in terms of journalism, and you get to feel smug about reading The Loop, which intentionally reposted a Verge article only to say “duh” to it?

Logic doesn’t work this way my friend.

  4. Ouch, you really know how to ruin the day of an Apple geek.

My secret hope is that said options represented a learning period for Apple, and iOS8 and OS X 10.10 will remove the accessibility options and introduce sensible defaults.

    A geek can dream right?

  5. Oh really? In this case The Verge is a tech enthusiast blog, not a journalism site.

  6. Seriously. I suppose there are a few Verge readers who like having things spelled out for them in a large, condensed typeface.

  7. Correct me if I’m wrong here, but the typeface for the iOS 8 banner doesn’t appear to be Helvetica Neue to me.

  8. Helvetica Neue Ultra Thin is not making for very good legibility at a distance.
