Measure up poster

If your kitchen drawers are anything like ours, you never have the right measuring implement for the recipe you’re tackling. Keep this chart on hand, and the next time you find yourself asking “How many…” you’ll know just what to do.

While most of the world has gone metric, there are still a lot (at least here in North America) of measurements that are “Old School”. This would make a handy poster to hang in your kitchen to help with various unit conversions.

  1. This is the reason why I convert all of my recipes to metric! What’s even more confusing is that the above poster is different in the US / UK. Why can’t the US just bite the bullet and switch to a modern measurement system???

  2. 40 fluid ounces per quart divided by 8 fluid ounces per cup equals 5 where I come from.

  3. Aren’t there 32 fluid ounces per quart? 32/8=4.

I see the confusion here. There are 40 IMPERIAL fluid ounces (UK).
This poster is for US measurements.

1 Quart [US] = 32 Fluid Ounces [US]
1 Quart [UK] = 40 Fluid Ounces [UK]

  4. The basic concept of the conversion chart is clever, but the implementation makes me question their commitment to usability vs. looking cool.

That brown gradient background won’t look awesome in your kitchen or make it easier to read or use.

    Make the conversion numbers bigger.

Remove the useless header and footer space.

(I’d consider removing some useless ones, too. It is true that there are 48 tsp in a cup, but when has that ever mattered in a kitchen?)
