The store is called Amazon Wearable Technology. Sections include Fitness and Wellness, Healthcare Devices, Wearable Cameras, Smart Watches, and Families, Kids, and Pets.

I still think the “booming wearable market” is a scam. It’s something for the media to write about, so they make a big deal out of it. I’ve still never seen one person wearing a smartwatch or fitness band, and I live in a major metropolitan area. Most financial reports and sales numbers point to the fact that nobody is buying these things. Amazon opening a whole new store for them tells me that they’re either falling for it too, or they know something we don’t.
I honestly think people are waiting for Apple. I believe the general population expects Apple to set the trend in personal electronics. I think People either do not want to buy in until they see what apple envisions for the space or are waiting for Apple to underline a problem this will be a solution for. From my personal experience, I was ready to buy a Nike Fuel band in December after I noticed how much I was using the Nike “Running” and “Move” apps – then I decided to wait to see what Apple may release in the summer. Unlike a phone, I don’t need one right now and can wait to see what comes down the pike without having to jump on the first watch/band/glass that comes out just for the sake of being first. Apple has a history or releasing products with a viable ecosystem making them more than the sum of their parts, but tlike the iPod, iPhone and iPad – revealing a desire for a solution you didn’t even know would benefit you. SO far in warbles, all we have seen are products but not solutions.
