Think you know how to generate a secure password? Do you follow your own advice?
This is a thoughtful look at the process of guessing people’s passwords. Well written, an enjoyable read, and I learned a few things along the way.
How to outguess passwords
I disagree with this guy’s solution. He says “just have one strong password” but nowadays the problem is criminals get an entire password database and can spend months cracking it. And once they have your single password, you’re hosed.
The whole article should just be “Use 1Password or iCloud password sync and always have a different 30-character random password for each site.”
The beauty of this article, IMHO, is it got me thinking a whole lot more about this issue.
