Beautifully crafted off-center axe splits firewood like it was balsa

This is just mesmerizing. I love great design.

  1. Nice to have those nice clear hardwoods, rather than the twisted, knotty stuff I’ve always had to split. Agree with Matthew & Dave on the tire jig!

  2. It’s too bad that California pretty much doesn’t let you burn wood anymore. This last winter, when one could really use a good fire, we had “spare the air” alerts….meaning no wood fires.

  3. A bungee cord (the kind you’d keep in the back of a truck or car) wrapped around your wood also works, and is slightly more forgiving.

  4. No kidding. I still remember trying to split the old Apple logs on my dad’s farm in Nova Scotia. They were like cement blocks. 🙁

  5. It looks like that off axis blade would be hell on your wrists with it twisting like that. And his wood is so “clean”, any decent axe could cut through it in this way. Let’s see him do it with wood that’s not so dry or with a grain not so straight. 🙂
