Samsung Electronics Co Ltd is expected to report its second straight quarter of profit decline as its high-end smartphone business loses steam, a trend likely to sharpen the firm’s focus on costs and the cheaper phone market.
Must be the strength of those smartwatches.
“In this respect the Galaxy S5 marks a major shift for Samsung, dropping the emphasis on hardware innovation and instead highlighting features such as fitness aids and sleek design.”
I think they meant a shift as samsung runs out of things to steal?
Is this due to churn? Are that many consumers trying Samsung mobiles, then ditching them?
Samsung is failing to beat Apple on the high side while getting punched by competitors on the low side. I’m waiting for Lenovo to kick them in the middle.
Does Lenovo have any consumer recognition here in the states? I don’t think most consumers even know it exists.
Just to put everyone on the same page, Apple’s profits have been dropping for 4 quarters in a row.
Nice try Korean shill.

That report mostly focuses on revenues being up. The fact that profits are down is harder to see there because the bars are quite small, and they use the euphemism of “fluctuation” when referring to profits.
Just go to apple.com/investor for the facts. Between January and September 2013, Apple lost no less than $4.7 billion in profits compared to the previous year. Between October and December, they performed a lot better in that regard, albeit still lost a few million compared to 2012.
Or check out the big red down arrow on Apple’s Wikipedia entry next to their profit.
The way you are immediately dismissing my factual statement is why I made it in the first place.
