I thought it was ridiculous too, but when you look at some of the other words that have been trademarked, maybe it’s not.
Just because they did something dumb once, doesn’t mean they should repeat it over and over again.
My first thought was “Seriously?” but I thought the same thing. Some trademarks are just dumb. They are at least specific to certain things.
Example:
Lightning when referred to as a connector is TMd by Apple but not if it is something else.
I’m certainly looking forward to having to pay licensing fees to six multinational corporations every time I have a conversation.
