CNBC:
Apple CEO Tim Cook has issued a statement about a new book about the tech giant called, “Haunted Empire,” saying it is “nonsense” and fails to capture Apple or former CEO and Co-Founder Steve Jobs.
Very interesting that Cook released a statement like this.

As a s/h, I would prefer that TC ignore stuff like this. It just fans the flame.

Agreed. Kane clearly believes the “all publicity is good publicity” cliche.
This is one of those books that will be forgotten in a few days.

Attention to Apple has reached a more mainstream position so clueing common folks into understanding that something isn’t necessarily true is a smart move. Last thing you need is a bunch of folks spreading this book around as gospel truth
Had Cook not said it is basically bogus it might have stuck around much longer
Tim wants to be seen talking on political issues. Tim wants to take more active position about charity. Tim wants to voice an opinion about this new Apple book.
I love the guy, but he talks too much, only diluting Apple’s character and focus in the process. Those things should be done, but done behind the scenes, not in the public media.
No big harm done, though.
It’s not personal. Journalists are hacks and Apple’s management of all people know that.

They’ve already (unquestioningly) interviewed the author, thereby legitimizing the book.
Of course. But now it’s fodder for the rest of their news cycle, right? Can’t let that go to waste.
Yup. It’s the “Apple is doomed” narrative the media loves so much.
Question. Let’s say you’re out with friends, and a 3 year old kid dragged by her mother to an undisclosed location pointed at you and said “you’re fat” (for example).
Would you feel compelled to settle this with a public statement discussing the factual merit of her statement?
Well, let’s say that’s what you do. The kid will love the attention and say a few more things and who would the public sympathize with? The kid, of course! They’re so cute and funny, and you’re so grumpy and reacting so unnaturally.
Well it’s like that with journalists. You gotta treat them as 3 year olds.
