Sometimes the best innovation is the simplest—that’s the case with Straptight. I’ve seen the inventor swing a guitar over his head with these on his strap and they didn’t pop off. Yet, you just twist it and it comes off when you want it to. They’re endorsed by Joe Satriani and are really inexpensive too.
Straptight strap locks
I use the strap locks which Straptight calls as “the old way” and describes as “expensive” and “who wants to modify their guitar?” I don’t remember them being expensive and I had no problem removing the foolish, impractical pegs that came with the guitar and screwing in a functional system. When something is broken it is better to just fix it rather than hack it. Maybe it is because I have also worked backstage tech — you need to over-engineer everything you take on stage, and that is almost as true for the studio. Keeping the guitar the way you happened to find it in the music store should be way, way down your list. Especially when almost all guitars come with impractical strap systems. Just accept it and fix the guitar.
