This is not that big of a deal they are advertisers, Coke wouldn’t like it if the athletes were drinking from Pepsi cups.

But Samsung isn’t sponsoring the athletes. They are sponsoring the Olympics.
There’s a difference.
But the athletes are choosing to participate in the olympics, if they felt it could ruin their brand or don’t want to be associate with McDonald’s, Coke or Samsung they could leave.
Nike sponsors jerseys for the NFL, but the players with Adidas deals don’t get to make alterations to the jerseys. Nike sponsors the sport, the players chose to play in it.
But those are their personal phones.
It’s not that being associated with Samsung bothers them, it’s that Samsung isn’t paying them so they don’t get a say in what they do with their personal belongings.
If Coke sponsors it, they provide cups for the athletes to drink from on camera. If an athlete brings their own personal cup that says Pepsi, then Coke shouldn’t have a say in the matter.
Football jerseys are made by Nike and are provided to the players. It’s an NFL rule that they have to wear the official uniform on the field. That’s not the same thing at all.
The Olympics isn’t paying them either, so they don’t have to wear the uniform? Can they wear their own gear?
This has nothing to do with clothing.
No it has to deal with endorsements and sponsorships and the Olympics are endorsing the athletes and Samsung is sponsoring the Olympics.
The Olympics obviously has guidelines for what the athletes wear during competition.
I don’t think they have rules regarding the athletes personal property when they aren’t competing, and I don’t feel that corporate sponsors should be allowed to dictate what people do with their own property on their own time.
I have nothing to do with the Olympics and this concerns me very little. I was just stating the difference between sponsoring the Olympics verses sponsoring the athletes.
