Huffington Post:
It’s not easy coming back home to America when your name is Ahmed.
I want to look forward to returning home from a trip abroad, but thanks to my name or as the TSA officer put it — my “profile” — I’ve come to dread it.
“Security Theater” at its finest.
You should just change it to Jim.
Jim is cool.
This TSA and immigration nonsense has long started to hurt brave people and the USA.
My name is North European, nothing remotely exotic sounding and my last two immigrations as a tourist (one at JFK, the other at Los Angeles airport) were plain unacceptable and intimidating, and the TSA staff on both departures was something that belongs in a Pythons sketch… rude, stupid, clueless. I will certainly spend my vacation money elsewhere in the future.
I do understand security, actually I have been working in security for almost two decades. With all these billion sunk into useless wars, surveillance and the NSA, what did they achieve? The Boston bomber jerk had all his hate on his Facebook page for the whole world to see and he could only be identified because of tourists snapping pictures and video… How long before somebody asks some obvious questions here?
