I would lose my fucking mind if this happened to me.

Honestly, I want my TV to be dumb. Dumb, dumb, dumb. It should have exactly one input and one output: an HDMI port and the screen, respectively. Everything else I can do through my receiver/Apple TV/Roku/Chromecast/set-top box/etc.
Agreed.
I have to say, this is why Tivo sucks too. Buy a TIVO with Lifetime service, and you’re in some $800-900. Pop open the box, install it, and there are adds all over. Hit pause, ad. Look at recorded show listing. Ad. Ad. Ad.
Worse – Tivo is so unethical. I called them, they said it’s an ad supported product.
It should have said it on the website, but nowhere on the site does it say anything about ads (or show them in the screen shots).
Tivo’s unethical anyway. You’re paying a monthly fee to do something a generation ago we could do ourselves without paying any money.
Yet another reason I will never own a Samsung product.
I think it’s bad UX and a typically-Samsung bad decision, but I also think that’s not really an ad.
It’s more like the most annoying tool-tip or “assistant” you can imagine.
It’s not really trying to sell anything, just telling you [the notional you] about a feature on your TV that you don’t actually care about.
“Hey, you can turn on Interactive Stuff for some content!” isn’t strictly an ad. It’s just a bad design decision to show it like that.
