First, let’s get the most mysterious thing about the Galaxy S5 out of the way: Yes, it will come in both metal and plastic versions as has been rumored, with the metal version costing around 800 Euros and the plastic model coming in at around 650 Euros. It’s pretty much similar to what Apple has done.

When I first heard, I rolled my eyes and sighed. These sort of things are why I don’t use a Galaxy S# anymore.
This is just a rumor. Let’s complain when we see the products, if they resemble iPhone or not. The strategy is not Apple strategy, Samsung has loads of models at different price points. After seeing Nokia phone portfolio of last 2–3 years, I would not say a plastic colorful phone is an innovation from Cupertino.

This post shows Samsung’s continuing pattern of shadowing Apple’s strategy. Samsung can do bigger screens (with the attendant trade-off in battery life). That seems to be the only arrow in its “innovation” quiver.

To be fair to Samsung, I’m not 100% certain Apple pioneered the practice of releasing a product in both premium and intermediate levels.
Yup. For example Nokia did that for years before iPhone was even introduced. More or less same hardware, available at every price point between 300 and 1000 euros. And every car manufacturer does the same too.
To be clear, I detest some clear copying Samsung has done, but this seems like overreaction and looking for things to bitch about Samsung, especially when it is just a rumor.
