In terms of astonishing weather facts, it doesn’t get much more impressive than being as cold as a distant planet for a day.
The Manitoba Museum is reporting Winnipeg’s temperatures on Tuesday were actually as cold as the surface of Mars.
According to the Curiosity Rover, Mars reached a maximum temperature of -29 C on Tuesday, a temperature Winnipeg only reached shortly before 3 p.m.
If asked the question, “Why will you never live in Winnipeg?”, I will simply point to this.
But isn’t all Canada this temperature? I mean, today in Northern California we are expecting almost 70 degree weather.
Every year I wonder why I suffer here through this miserable cold (besides being born here) then Festival du Voyager comes along and we all hope it’s stays cold enough.

It’s true. It really is the only time I enjoy the outdoors when the mercury drops. Last year we got a fairly mild February (-10ish) and some of the massive snow sculptures started to melt in the sun.
