This is great design, especially well suited for avid campers. The PowerPot sits on a heat source, such as a camp stove, and generates electricity so you can charge your phone or tablet.
The original PowerPot debuted in April, 2012, but there’s a new model, with more power, better charging options. Good stuff.
To be honest, you’re better off buying a lightweight aluminum or titanium pot and a USB battery pack. For half the cost and under a pound in weight, you’ll be able to charge your phone multiple times on a backpacking/camping trip, and you don’t have an awkward cord to deal with while you’re cooking.
Think about it: You’re probably using your backpacking stove for less than 10 minutes. 10 minutes of charing doesn’t get you a whole lot. So you’ll end up keeping your stove going even when you’re done. So you may need to bring more fuel, meaning more weight and more cost.
Get yourself a lightweight pot or cook set (which, if you’re a avid camper or backpacker, you probably already have), and pick up a USB batter pack (I’ve like my Anker). Save weight, save money, save time.
