A brainteaser by Albert Einstein

These things drive me crazy.

  1. I got it in a very reasonable time, and I’m not a super-genius-geek-nerd!
So I guess the percentage is much bigger than 2!

    Anyway, nice quiz!

  2. Love this stuff. If you can complete Sudoku, you can complete this. Pencil, paper, and process of elimination.

  3. Yeah took me more than an hour but as soon as I attacked it in a structured way it went in less than 10 min. Love these things.

  4. Make Magazine has run these brain teasers in the back pages for a long time, illustrated by the incomparable (and remarkably long-lived!) Roy Doty.

The only way I can solve them by making bunch of paper tokens with each clue, and stacking them up on each other, eventually the stacks converge on a solution.

On the other hand, Sudoku just utterly and completely baffles me…my brain ALWAYS tries to establish some sort of mathematical relationship between the numbers, and I just cannot get past that.
