iOS 7: It’s the details

Admittedly small things in such a large OS, but these are the types of details that Apple thinks about.

  1. As much as I appreciate Apple’s attention to such details, and as heartened as I am with Apple’s success and expansion, it’s rather sad to realize at the same time that there are people who simply don’t care about this sort of thing, who yet find things to complain about.

For example: crowded Apple retail stores. I find the crowds to be a positive indicator–that there is a huge demand for its products. But there are those who are put off by the crowds and consequently won’t visit them.

  2. The only “small thing” that freaks me out about iOS 7 is the brightness control in Control Center (as I am hypersensitive when it comes to staring into lights, I can’t rely on the auto-setting at all)… How am I supposed to set the brightness I want, when the whole screen gets dimmed whenever Control Center is active? As soon as I discard Control Center the screen gets brighter…

Otherwise I am mainly fine with iOS 7 by now (still not fond of the Calendar and Notes apps, both were better before, but thankfully there are 3rd-party alternatives).

  3. If you find it useful, once you see which entry is linked to each finger, you can tap on each entry to rename them, e.g., “Right Thumb” or “Right Index Finger”.

  4. Umm… you can change the brightness level through the Settings app? It’ll take a couple more taps, but it’s the most reliable way for your specific case.

I do miss the old multitask drawer, cause using the four-finger gesture seemed very fitting. Being that ergonomically, the user is shifting the entire screen up and accessing settings underneath/in the background.

It doesn’t provide the same flow to bring up cards-like multitasking. (The five-finger home gesture seems better suited for this cause you’re essentially doing a big “zoom out”.)
