Prickly and inconsistent as all hell, but when he was on target…those four Velvets albums are among the best of all time.
If anyone wants to do a little Lou Reed celebration and doesn’t already have them, I highly recommend Songs for Drella, the album he and John Cale made about Andy Warhol and Live MCMXCIII, the Velvet Underground reunion recording. They’re both tremendous.
I hope this pioneer rests in peace!
Seems rather unlike Lou Reed to rest in peace, doesn’t it?
