Doug Field worked for Jony Ive and will now be VP of Vehicle Programs for Tesla.
To bad you could get the car say “Wall·E” or have the Mac ‘bong’ sound, when starting up the car.
Is this one of the rare cases where a fairly high-profile member of Jony’s design team actually chose to leave? I remember reading that in the 15 years Jony’s design team have been working together, something like less than 5 have left, and 2 of them were because they passed away.
Reading his comments about the new job, its clear though that he has a huge passion for automotives. His skills will be great at Tesla, pretty excited to see what they come up with.
Doug’s job previous to Apple, Inc. was at Segway, Inc.
Interesting coincidence that I happen to be an eight-year Segway PT owner, a 26-year Apple customer, and I thoroughly plan to be a Tesla Model X owner, hopefully soon after they’re introduced in 2015.
