There’s an emerging collectible market for new-in-a-box versions of the original iPhone 2g. I wonder where those units are coming from. Who buys an iPhone and doesn’t immediately use it? Visionaries, that’s who!

It wouldn’t surprise me that there are unopened units floating around out there. Prior to the iPhone, Macs were often seen as collectibles to be kept in mint condition.

When the iPhone first came out, before it was available in Europe, I brought a few over for people who wanted one. I kept one of them factory-sealed. I’m going to wait another decade to see where the price will be then, though 🙂
