This is a great article by Christina Warren that looks at what’s happening with paid apps vs in-app purchases.
I quite like the idea of getting a free trial app and being able to upgrade it to the full version with a single IAP or even adding certain features with multiple lower priced IAP’s. But what irks me is the model used by many of the games companies where the IAP’s seem to be a bottomless pit with no real indicator of how much one needs to pay to actually finish the game in a reasonable amount of time, or finish it at all.
