Mackie introduced a new line of mixers, new loudspeakers and studio monitors. I’ve been using 1640 Mackie mixers for years and they still work great in my studio. I also have a set of the Mackie SRM450 loudspeakers that I’ve been using for years and they have never failed me. I’ve never used their studio monitors, so I don’t know about those. However, considering I blew up my 8-inch studio monitors a month or so ago, I may give these a try at some point.

Musician’s Friend has the ship date for the monitors estimated at 9/04, so I’ll wait a little while and pick up the 5-inch ones to start with.

I have a pair of HR824’s (original model) in my home studio. They’re so good, it’s sick. They have the kind of sound that makes a grown man weep for joy. If they were ever stolen or burned down or whatever, I would beg, borrow, or stop just shy of stealing to get a new pair. Can’t recommend them highly enough. 🙂
I like the mixer’s better specs and preamps (have my own Onyx mixer) but I’m not sure about the look of the new knobs.
