I agree with a lot of what Shaun McGill says in this article. We have come a long way from the days of Palm and using a device as a PDA. Now we have a computer in our pocket and your computer is a matter of personal choice.
A matter of personal choice
The biggest trigger in these mobile flame wars is that neither side is willing to admit that different people have different criteria for evaluating the devices they choose to own.
But..but…sometimes people have different preferences that I do! They have to be stopped!!
Good points but this guy seriously needs an editor.
Valid points here. Too many people dismiss the choices of others and presume others are wrong. Also valid are the reasons for sticking with the iPhone.
As for an editor, I liked the conversational style. It’s not perfect, but that adds weight in an odd way.
i like the doorknob who commented “Can’t buy Amazon MP3s on an iphone!” er, yeah…but you cant buy itunes music on an android, either. but in either case, you can buy MP3 from your ecosystem’s provider, which is the job to be done.
From the linked-to piece:
The overriding questions that I ask myself are-
What do I need to do on my phone that I cannot do with the device I own?
What does Android / Windows Phone / BlackBerry offer that I don’t have at this time?
The answer to both questions is ‘no’.
Oohkaaaay……
“Oohkaaaay……”
That was funny. What on earth was I thinking? I hope the point came over anyway.
I didn’t mean to be a snotbag in my comment. That just really struck me as funny.
It’s funny. I need to spend a little more time composing things.
Mobile flames war bloggers seem not to live in the real world. The nerds of mobile now buy according to their own ‘belief’ system now and what backed system they want to belong, the Google/Linux world or the Apple ecosystem. It turns out to be that simple.
