Beyond that, Mr. Dalrymple, didn’t you say a few months ago you wished journalists (amateur or professional) would stop writing “Why I Won’t Be Buying a _______” articles? This kind of falls into that category.

In the vacuum of that quote, yeah…pretty bad. Read the rest of the article and he praised Android on many fronts but took issue with the devices.
So it’s a pretty bad article for manufacturers.
And possibly for the foolish deals that Google made with them for Android adoption.
Not sure I follow. Can you link me to a foolish deal?
How about the idea that manufacturers and carriers can change the UI? How well does that work for consumers or Android’s consistency?
It doesn’t work well for consistency but it is the premise Android was built on so no foolish deals were needed.
Now the manufacturers made foolish deals by letting the carriers change their implementation of Android. That has worked out poorly in pundant-land but regular consumers don’t care about having to ignore a built-in app.
(not excusing it, just saying not a foolish deal by Google)
