Apple users are still prolific when it comes to tablet Web browsing, while Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Samsung’s Galaxy Tablet families remain in second and third place, respectively. Apple’s iPad usage share increased in May 2013 after a slight dip in April 2013, making its present Web usage share (82.4%) the highest since the beginning of 2013.
Again I ask—What the hell is everyone else doing with their tablets?
Maybe it has something to do with Apple shipments being real numbers and all the other shipments being pulled out of the asses of “analysts”.

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that Android does not support TRIM on the solid state storage. So within a six months of usage (unless you bought a unit with twice the storage than you actually use) the performance on those Android tablets is in the toilet because the thing is spending all of its time doing garbage collection on the SSD.
You see the reports on the Android blogs of people complaining about their Asus and Samsung tablets being completely unusable after six to nine months of use. These things are getting terrible customer satisfaction ratings and likely going to get zero repeat purchases. People don’t use them because it really does take 10 seconds for the screen to rotate from portrait to landscape (I saw this on AndroidAndMe.com article and confirmed it with a friend who has an Asus tablet and I have seen plenty post to forums saying it is the same problem with Samsung tablets).
I have not heard as many bad things about the Kindle tablets, but I am guessing that most Android tablet owners don’t go to use their tablets often because (a) they are dog slow, and (b) there aren’t any good apps on their tablet anyway.

Check the comments for the complaints about TRIM support.
Speaking as someone who owns a Fire, Fire HD, Nexus 7 and iPad mini, the iPad is simply faster and does a better job rendering. In terms of stability, as well, there’s no contest.
That is only part of it. The other one being that many Android devices ship with slow/inadequate SSD cache. The Nexus 7 is especially plagued by this.
Answer: “quietly regretting their purchase.”
I also think this could be an effect similar to the early iPod days. Most of the non-iPod mp3 players were not purchased by the user, but by someone else who “thought all mp3 players were the same”. While I agree that the primary reason is that the non-iPad numbers are completely made up, and Google is happy the media is over reporting, my point is that those that are getting them as “gifts” are tossing them in a corner.
You’re probably more on target than me on this, actually. I’m just super cynical on anyone reporting any hard numbers of Android sales, especially tablets. I do think we’re seeing a repeat of iPod where the pie grows bigger for awhile and then shrinks when people realize that the lower cost cheap crap just isn’t worth it. If you spend $99 on a piece of crap tablet, all you did was waste $99. You didn’t “save” any money if the tablet was unusable garbage.
Has Chitika ever reported what sites they serve? In no way am I refuting, I’m always curious where they get their data.
This data is for North America alone, presumably Android tablets sell better elsewhere than in NA.
that is pretty amazing that there is no TRIM support.
Tablets vs. suppositories
Hilarious! 😀
