I hope Apple wins for one reason. Not because I don’t like competition: I do. It is because Samsung and Google blatantly screw over their partners and then expect everybody to be friendly with regards to intellectual property.
There is a reason that Microsoft and Apple compete well with each other. it is because they recognize that they need each other and they have made compromises with regards to patents with cross-licensing.
I respect HTC for licensing Apple’s patents. That’s the way it should be.
But Google held Apple by the balls with regards to Maps and literally stole IP while sitting on Apple’s board to make their competing operating system. Samsung was privy to Apple’s plans because they were manufacturing Apple’s products and their own internal document shows they set out to copy the iPhone. Both Google and Samsung were partners of Apple. Apple was feeding Google millions of visits per day via their devices and Apple was giving Samsung billions of dollars as a component customer.
Both Google and Samsung expected Apple to roll over when they shafted Apple and competed directly against them without licensing a thing.
No amount of monetary damages can undo what Google and Samsung did. They gained more from their dishonest actions than they will ever have to pay for. So anything the court gives Apple is fair and just at this point.
Even if Samsung had to pay the original $1B in damages to Apple, it would have been a small amount of “R&D cost” for essentially copying off of Apple’s exam.
U.S. Patent No. 7,761,414 on “asynchronous data synchronization amongst devices”
– This one is plain, flat out dumb. I built the same thing at work recently for our data sync. Apple is going a bit far here.

After Apple had done their work, yes?
No, last week wasn’t the first time I’ve done it. This is something I did 11 years ago in other tech as well.
My point is this is a common thing Apple patented here.
I hope Apple wins because I am a shareholder and I want them to crush their copycat enemies.
Actually, stupid patent bullshit continues.
People have been building that for at least two decades. Nothing about what Apple does is innovative in any way (except that Apple’s solution is innovatively bad and doesn’t really work). But good try.
Exactly Lukas. That’s my point. Most of it isn’t anything new just on a different device type and with respect to the async data one mentioned above it is common dev practice.
