Om Malik takes a look at the HTC First, the debut phone to feature Facebook Home. Malik has been very critical of Facebook Home, so it’s interesting to read his thoughts on what it’s like to use the device.
‘HTC First (and my last) with Facebook Home’
He was pretty much spot on with Dieter Bohn’s review of the device as well: http://www.theverge.com/2013/4/9/4206176/htc-first-review-facebook-phone. I didn’t read the software review yet.
The only difference I think was the battery life. Dieter made it through a hole day with it and Ohm downplayed the battery.
Overall though…two separate reviewers (w/ different agendas) came to almost the same conclusion. That’s very telling.
I’ve been following the news ‘n’ reviews of this phone with much interest and I’ve basically come to the same conclusion as everyone else. As a trojan horse I’m fascinated at the potential to disrupt google and steal there impressions and stuff.
Meh on the trojan horse, yet again, but I definitely think, as expected by the specs, it will be a good middle of the road device.
How long do you think until most ads on android look like chat heads popping up?
Depends on how long until Android is littered with ads. (so far, no ads on Android)
Perhaps I wasn’t clear: Android APPS have ads. Seems like a good opportunity for ad-makers to grab attention by making their ads look like chat heads? “Oh, it’s a friend I don’t recognize.”
That’d suck. App devs would prob boycot the providers, I know I would. lol
Yes, I find myself more and more impressed with the strategy they’ve employed. I understand that the Google Nexus 4 runs this smooth like buttah.
Wow, what a horribly devious idea. But these are the sorts of things to consider, I wonder if facebook did? Based on their history I have my doubts.
Yep, genius strategy.
I’ve heard the Nexus 4 is super smooth. I’m waiting for Google IO in hopes they pass them out or some new device. 🙂
Are you gonna post pics and make us all super-jealous? I sure hope so!
EDIT: I realize some people aren’t excited for the IO conference
I definitely will. I’ll prob Google+ them just to be in the Google+ vein that week. (will see how much I’m drawn back to Twitter)
