It’s so nice of AT&T to let people use their phones how they’re designed to be used.
Subtext: if you have a grandfathered unlimited plan, you’re out of luck.
“as a result of ongoing test”… right. They just did a spreadsheet calculating how quickly someone with a tiered data plan would blow through their allotment when they use facetime over LTE. More $ for them.
I thought they did this months ago. It’s the folks with unlimited data plans who get screwed.
workaround: google hangout. Works pretty well. Image quality is not quite as good as facetime, but it is passable, and you can have multiway conferences.
Yawn… I have “unlimited” data, so no soup for me.
Especially since they apparently enabled it without any notification. I just popped open Settings to see if I could enable it, and my iPhone’s already configured to accept FaceTime over cellular.
