Sad to see the tuner missing from the 500. That would have been nice to keep.
It’s too bad CableCard never really went anywhere. I’d really like to ditch the pathetically slow and cumbersome-to-use cable box given out by my cable company.
Their idea of a “HD Program Guide” is 640×480.
These refreshed models do look interesting. But I’m waiting on Apple TV to revolutionise this space. No Apple logo, no purchase. Sorry.
The mission of the Slingbox is a little different from the Apple TV. The original idea was to be able to watch Major League Baseball games while you were traveling out of your home market. I have a five year old Slingbox PRO and I still use it all the time while I travel. It looks like I finally have to upgrade.
I think it is clear that Slingbox doesn’t want to anything stacked ontop of their 500 model.
Leaving HDMI out of the 350 was an evil genius move.
I’m using CableCard on my TiVo right now.
Lucky you. I’m in Canada – CableCard never got here.
