I worked far too much when my kids were young (and still do). I missed a lot.

My dad wasn’t around when I was growing up. I promised myself and my kids I’d never do that to them. Five years in, I’m still keeping my promise.
Got up at 5AM, changed diapers for my Sunshine, putting her to sleep now… Guess I am doing it right.
Most of my memories of my dad are looking out our apartment window, watching him as he went uptown to work.
Thanks for this, Jim.
Lovely Jim, my dad worked too much when I was a kid and then we lost him when i was 16…..missed all of those “catch up with your childhood” chats that should have happened when i grew up. Lost times indeed 🙁 As a proud daddy of 2 beautiful girls, I am sure as hell making sure that doesn’t happen….
I’m at kind of a critical juncture at my site where I’m starting to build a small regular following, but I decided to take a couple of nights off from posting this week because I needed to spend some time with my family. I figure if I have a good audience, they’re not going to write off the site because I don’t post 7 days a week. If I end up being able to blog full time, but don’t have time for anything else, then what’s the point?
