The new Kindle Paperwhite is a dramatic update inside and out, one with fully redesigned software and an appealing integrated light that makes the Kindle more usable in any environment.
While I prefer the iPad, Amazon is doing a great job with the Kindle line. The reviews for the Kindle Paperwhite have all been quite complimentary. I’ve recommended various Kindles to any number of people who don’t need the full feature set or functionality of the iPad.

The future is bright for the paperwhite… The product that launched a thousand puns. Somewhere else reported the glowing reviews…
I prefer the iPad too for most jobs, but if you’ve tried using the iPad outside on a sunny day (or even just a normal day)- it’s not a great experience. I think these two devices compliment each other perfectly (though I’m pretty positive there is NO room for the Fire HD – especially once the iPad Mini shows up at my door) Looking forward to receiving my Kindle Paperwhite on Wednesday.
The name will forever and automatically be replaced by paperweight in my head, always have to read it twice to make sure it didn’t say that from the start.
It already has… Nick Carson over at SAI published an entire article using that very word first thing this morning. Shame these comment don’t allow for image uploads – I have a screenshot from my iPad.
I suspect that speakers of Australian English (a/k/a “Strine”) probably picked up on this sooner. The similarity of the name to paperweight actually didn’t occur to me until I read your comment. Very good point though.
The iPad is nice but not for long term reading. Outside reading, forget about it. I tried to get my wife to use the Kindle app for our books and her wrists get tired and prefers our 2nd gen Kindle. The only thing I want to know is when will Canada get this model?!
