Who better to lead America than a country already leading America?

The Globe and Mail:

“Who better to lead America than a country already leading America in so many ways?” is just the beginning of Canadian Brian Calvert’s case, made in a YouTube video, for why Americans should vote for Canada to run the U.S. this fall.

A scrolling list of things Mr. Calvert argues Canadians do better include healthcare, human rights, and the employment rate – along with big foot sightings, lumberjack fashion and bear attacks.

Seriously, America. Why not let Canada govern you for a while? What’s the worse that could happen?

  1. I don’t understand. We can already make maple syrup down here. What would you guys bring to the table with that out of the way? 🙂

  2. Er, that kind of defeats the whole purpose of that war of Independence thing you guys did to get rid of the nonsense of the monarchy.

As soon as that big eared mumbler takes the throne don’t be surprised if Canada becomes a republic. We’ve only kept the Queen because she stays out of our business.

  3. Yeah, Canadians with money come to the US for their healthcare, and “human rights” means no First Amendment, so don’t say anything politically incorrect that offends anybody (how long do you think you could do that Mr. Beard?). As for lower unemployment rate, thank the conservative Harper government for that.

  4. Right now, I would be willing to let SpongeBob SquarePants run this country. He couldn’t do any worse than the last two presidents we’ve had.

  5. Er, the US has no high ground in the area of human rights and liberty despite the marketing. Letting people say whatever they want regardless of the harm it causes is not so great when you throw so many people in jail and ruin lives over non violent “crimes”.

  6. Two words: three countries. The US and two backwaters. The only ones not officially working with a 20th century system of weights and measures are the US, Burma and Liberia. Great company.

But hey, what possible advantage could their be to a system of weights and measures all based on 10? Could it be at the end of your hands? Or a system where if you have a measuring tape you can make a litre container? The US military instituted metric policies 20 years ago.Science is a metric domain.

Time to get with the program. It’s already happened where it counts.

  7. This really begs the question, “Why do this to the people of Canada?” The family I have in Canada and friends I have made there like being Canadian.

The only thing I would like to see to see America adopt is the right to vote for no confidence of the executive and legislative branches to remove liars, cheats, and political whores from office before their term is up. Our laws for impeachment are a joke when it comes to implementation whereby the “pot has to call the kettle black.”
