Through the program, Yahoo employees will have a choice of phones: iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One X, HTC EVO 4G LTE, or Nokia Lumia 920.
Yahoo is also going to pay its employees data and phone bills.
Marissa Mayer is making a lot of good moves to make her staff happy.
I think this is bigger than just keeping employees happy. Yahoo is basically picking up up the tab to give all of it’s employees their choice of the flagship device from any of the major OEMs (with the glaring exception of RIM & Motorola) on the three viable OS platforms. I see this is a clear indication that Yahoo is very serious about mobile and is taking an agnostic approach to it.
Also, they are discontinuing support for Blackberry devices (their previous standard issue). If any more nails are hammered into that coffin, it’ll achieve critical mass.
Hope they publish their stats on breakdown of requests.
I wonder which of these remarkable phones will be most popular with employees. 🙂
No Moto? Why am I not surprised?
I think the Lumia’s popularity will be surprising. I wouldn’t be surprised if it ranks closely behind the 3rd Android device.
