You bearded it …
I agree. When the “sorry” become great…people hate. 🙂
I thought about this the other day and feel it works both ways though. I believe Apple “fanboys”/pundants have such a “better than thou” tone because they fought so hard to be relevant and now they are. Since Apple is more than relevant now, only Apple can do it right.
That tone (sometimes undertone) is there so much it is horribly annoying and I think that’s when the “fanboy” label is applied.
Two-way street, IMHO.
But it’s rarely as clear as hate or love, which is what boils my blood. What we don’t see much of, or hear about often, are the more level headed and constructively critical people who get labelled as haters because they seemingly dare to have room for more than one brand in their lives.
There is also something more poisonous than jealousy which is when one almost preaches their hate/love of a brand over a more level headed approach.
Or simply hating the haters, just as bad, if not worse, than jealously.
I think there’s some truth to this. But whenever someone provides reasoning or evidence to back up their opinion, it’s unfair to call them a fanboy or hater regardless of their tone. It wasn’t so much about fighting to be relevant – Apple was always relevant, it was in defence of the lies and FUD spread in what seemed like an attempt to put the Mac platform out of commission. What other reaction would you take if people on a daily basis spread lies and FUD to take away the tools you rely on for your business?

Haha. You’re right. You should see the folks who say “You’re an Android user. Get out of here and go to Android Central!” on the iMore comments. 🙂 It is ridiculous.
I just smile ’cause while I love Android I have 3 Mac’s (two MBP and one iMac; two in use), an iPad (wife has one too), two iPhones (not in use but one was), numerous Android phones (1 in use), 3 Android tablets (1 in use; wife has 1 so 4), and some PCs sitting around the house. 🙂
My love is for what works for me. 🙂
By relevant I meant mainstream. They simply weren’t. Mac’s are doing much better but still aren’t mainstream. iOS devices…they are the mainstream. 🙂
The fanboy label applies to some. Those who blindly believe Apple is outright the best and without blemish are 100% fanboys.
I’m not saying Apple fans/users shouldn’t feel vindicated but any time you puff yourself up as better than another because your horse in the race is currently winning…you’re setting yourself up as a prick and, potentially, a fanboy.
“My love is for what works for me. :)”
That’s probably the most grounded comment/perspective/view I have read… 🙂
Thanks.
Agreed.
The newest generation of Apple-haters have added Android adoration to their arsenal of zealotry. Google allows them to point fingers at Apple’s “philosophically deficient” operating systems. It’s kind of remarkable to observe.
Thanks for the tip. I’ve installed and enabled WP Supercache.
