Apple will decimate competitors with 7-inch iPad

You speak of this smaller iPad as though it’s existence is confirmed. That encourages me some. If it does release, my only real questions are about what kind of screen and battery life it would have.
There is no doubt Apple will release a 7-inch iPad this year. When people like Jim speak with such certainty you know it’s going to happen.
General consensus based on “educated guesstimates” is iPad 2 screen resolution and battery life. I really believe Apple won’t look to get hammered by the competition on these selling points so will deliver nothing less than what it’s selling now.
There will be no competition as soon as Apple enters the 7-inch market!
what will happen to the ipod touch with a 7 inch iPad. what will be the pricing of one to the other?
I figure they’d want to reduce cost and use a non retina display, however I also feel they would prefer at this point not to release a new product category without retina displays anymore. I just cant say for sure which philosophy will win out, excpet perhaps going with lower resolution now so their is a much desired upgrade for the next year model. If the iPad Mini/Air/Nano has a retina display and 10 hour battery life, my money is theirs and I’d be willing to pay near $400 if neccassry.
I certainly hope is is true. I’ve got a line of people waiting to buy my current iPad if I switch to this rumored version.
I’d expect for the $400 you’d be willing to spend you might be talking about a 4G/LTE model plus the retina display.
If I had a crystal ball at my disposal it would say “base model” with 16 gig will sell at $269 to $279. This 7″ tablet sales arena is supposed to be for the budget conscious. Based on iSuppli and iFixit guesstimates Apple would keep its profit margin percentages but not lose customers by asking for 50% ($100) more than the competition’s 8 gig $199 loss leaders. In this country we want more storage not less which is why I believe, IMHO, the 16 gig Nexus 7 is sold out with a waiting list but the the 8 gig Nexus 7 is readily available.
Pardon all the verbiage, it’s just that I am excited about this like you are!
So Apple will reduce competitors’ market share by a tenth? That doesn’t seem like a big deal.
