As a long-time WWDC attendee, former SF resident and established food and drink connoisseur we knew he’d have a great set of recommendations for us. We’re sad he won’t be making the trip this year but we’ll frequent a few of his favorite haunts in his honor.
If you are lucky enough to be attending WWDC, make time to explore one of the most beautiful cities in North America. It would be a shame to make the trip and not see at least some of the sites San Francisco has to offer. See San Francisco the way it’s supposed to be seen, rent a scooter from Dubbelju for 24 hrs and ride the hell out of it. The Golden Gate Bridge, Sausalito and that famous windy part of Lombard Street have never been so much fun.

I always tell people to go to Audium. Describing it is difficult and doesn’t do it justice. Basically it’s a 3D sound sculpture that you sit in and experience in complete darkness. Stan Shaff, the creator/composer, runs the show live so every performance is different. He started it over 50 years ago and it has been evolving ever since. The main problem is that he only does it on Friday and Saturday at 8:30pm, which interferes with a lot of people’s party plans. It is totally unique in the world and should not be missed. There isn’t a part of San Francisco that isn’t worth visiting. The GG Bridge obviously. Alcatraz. The Castro. Van Ness. Union Square. On and on it goes. Truly the most amazing city in North America.

And I forgot: if you’re like me climbing every hill you see, don’t miss Twin Peaks or at least go up the Coit Tower.
