A new survey of American iPhone buyers has revealed that 73 percent choose the high-end iPhone 4S, while 38 percent of those buying Apple’s smartphone reported switching from Android or BlackBerry.
So, people buy Android-based phones and use them as a trade-in towards an iPhone?
Don’t see where you’re getting the “trade-in” bit… Presumably, they just switch to iPhones when their contracts are up, right?
Also curious to know what the stat is in the opposite direction. What percent of Android adopters are switching from an iPhone?
I believe the correct word is “churn.”
I didn’t think people actually bought android phones, I thought most people got them free for signing a 2 year contract.
I’d really like to know this. Maybe one day I’ll get off my ass and relaunch my own Apple Blog and deal with this survey crap once and for all. There are so many different surveys out there about how Android does this and Apple does that. I’m an Apple fan but I want to lay out all the surveys and make some qualitative arguments to my android friends ad you never can because everyone has their own set of oddball facts.
