Robert Falck gives his thoughts on iOS 6. Good article, I liked reading this one.

filesystems as consumer know them (folders and sub-foders) are boring and mundane.
Humans = creative beings
Computers – robotic and non creative
When I task myself with the manual management of file and folder structure I’m negating my primary advantage over a computer and thus negating that computers many advantages and ability to symbiotically help me.
Let’s not forget the Science in Computer Science
Good article. I think too many long time computers are confusing what Apple is doing with “giving up on professionals.” Real professionals know that their workflows will change many times during their career and they should adapt to be more productive in the long run.
The idea that files are the pinnacle of productivity, especially when our photos and documents are treated the same way a plists and other system files is ludicrous.
Directly accessible file systems are often totally unnecessary. Most folks only work with their data via an application so where the data is doesn’t really matter. Nor does being able to mess with it directly.
what could be useful would be a single data bucket. One place where all files go so that any applicable app can see them even though we can’t directly. No more having to ‘save to iTunes’ to copy something to the computer or ‘import from iTunes’ for stuff from the computer. No more having to file share out PDFs from this program to load them into that one. Both programs can see the same file, no wasted space on duplicates or wasted time to move the files.
As for the rest, yes Game Center has some room to grow but a lot of that growth needs to be with the developers. Even when a function is already possible in GC many developers don’t include it, leaving users to skip it or sign up for whatever other network they have baked in. That part needs to be fixed before any additional APIs will be of real use.
