After hearing Page’s interpretation of Jobs’s words, Isaacson spoke out this week in a speech at the Royal institution of Great Britain. Isaacson said he felt that Android had ripped off many of his ideas found in the iPhone and iPad, and that his ire was very real, according to Macworld.
“It’s almost copied verbatim by Android,” Isaacson said. “And they license it around promiscuously. And then Android starts surpassing Apple in market share, and this totally infuriated him. It wasn’t a matter of money. He said, ‘You can’t pay me off, I’m here to destroy you.'”
It’s time for Google to shut up.

Some common sense among it all… the whole “destroy” thing really rubs me the wrong way no matter who’s wrong or right
I think that Jobs had a right to be pissed off. Twice in his life he created something revolutionary and had someone come along, copy it, and then license it out to anyone who wanted it.
I think the last bit is the part that probably really pissed off Steve. The whole “inspired by” copying is one thing, using someone else’s work to make money for yourself is another. If they weren’t licensing it he might have let it go.
As for Tim, I think that it’s a bad move to assume (as some have) that he’ll just settle all of these suits out of court and move on. Some of them aren’t just harassing and nitpicking they are legit patent infringements that are beyond the trade dress issues. And certainly Tim is no more likely to give access to non essential patents to get FRAND suits against them dropped. He’s not stupid.
