‘Wonderful, horrible personal loyalty’

John Gruber responding to Anil Dash about Readability.

  1. Anil failed to mention anywhere in his insanely long blog post that this whole thing started because of the way Readability’s share feature sent users to Readability’s site instead of the publisher’s. I wish John called him out for that. The response from the Readability defenders has been to say the word Instapaper as many times as possible, ignore the heart of the problem, and sugar coat the remaining issues they do choose to address.

  2. John Gurber called them out as “scumbags” because they were doing scummy things (and have been for a while). Jeffrey Zeldman and Anil Dash responded by basically saying “they’re not scumbags because we know them”. It’s bullshit.

Zeldman is in denial, insulting Jason Snell in the process with passive-agressive tweets like: “sorry you don’t read your email”. Zeldman is a smart guy, but he sucks at customer service.Dash has just been trying to derail the discussion by writing a ridiculously long blog post at 3am, ragging on Instapaper and accusing anyone who disagrees with him of being a “fanboy”. But then this is what we come to expect from a New Media Douchebag.
