Mike Daisey has done an immeasurable amount of damage to Apple with his lies over the past couple of years. While I doubt Apple will seek any compensation, I don’t see why Daisey should be allowed to profit.
Maybe a solution would be to sue Daisey with the understanding that all of the money is put into a fund for Chinese workers. It could be used for any number of things, but at least Daisey wouldn’t have it.

I hear where you are coming from, though I think most people would view such a move as cynical. Creating a fund for the workers would implicitly admit that Apple has a Chinese worker problem and that they are in need of money. And the amount of money that they would get from Daisy is downright tiny compared to the billions Apple has, so the question would then become how much money is Apple giving the workers if they are so in need?
So yeah, I just don’t see this happening.

Karma has a way of catching up with people. Daisey’s credibility is already shot. He may profit in the short term but how seriously do you think he will be taken in the future?
I think that Daisey has been outed very publicly as a liar is very sufficient punishment. Exposing the “crime” in this case is justice. Suing in this case is retribution, and Apple would appear petty if they did so. If you are into the eye for an eye, just realize he probably won’t get a speaking gig for some time.
What he did amounts to high school gossip, not the slaughter of kittens. In the grand scheme of things, I think Apple and those who talk about Apple will be just fine. Just be careful not to give into the dark side and dwell on what he did wrong rather than what we should all do right… and that is to continue to have real facts based discussions on Chinese workers rights. If anything, it’s the Chinese workers who may be experiencing hardships who should be angry at Daisey for a) Exploiting their story and b) distracting those in the US who could help them with his scandal.
Except that the theaters where he performs are standing by him. What we need is for ticket holders to his show to demand refunds because the show was marketed as non fiction and they bought tickets for that. Not fiction. And we need folks to protest via refusing to buy tickets for any more shows of any kind from these theaters until they shut him down and issue an apology to everyone that bought tickets based on his lies about the veracity of his tale.
Agree with everything you said. Daisey is an idiot, but the best thing Apple can do is ignore him. Anything they do will look petty.

Anyone else want give that fat bastard jabba look alike a quick punch in the nose? He was so smug while on Real Time with Bill Maher. He kept talking about “I saw”, “I was there”, “I witnessed.” And in the end, Bill tells him, we need more people like you. Lying opportunistic bastard.
The theaters are businesses. Unfortunately, they will stand by him as long as he continues to sell tickets. Hopefully as more people realize what a scumbag he is they will stop buying tickets and he will be out of a job.
Daisey would win that lawsuit if he could get the venue changed to inside his head.
I wonder if Daisey had any corporate sponsors for his show (obviously not Apple). Now that would be interesting. As to boycotting his show, there will always be people who will believe what they want to believe despite the current facts (think birth certificate). They will buy the tickets, enjoy the show, boycott Apple, and buy a Samsung Tablet made at a plant in the next town over with even worse working conditions.

The money could go not only to the Chinese workers that Daisey insulted by representing as made-up subservient automatons in need of him as their savior, but also to the American workers who have been hurt and maimed and killed for example in Pennsylvania coal mines, which are much more dangerous than iPhone factories, and which also have too little regulation, too little worker protection, and too little unionization.
What money? What did the guy take home from this whole business? Maybe $200,000?
