The comment Jim posted was about men and other men’s beards. So his comment and yours are not in opposition. Women prefer clean shaven you say so why do men grow beards. Perhaps it’s not about the women but, as Jim quoted from the survey, it’s about the men.
It likely goes back to the same mental game we use in Hollywood. Boys can’t grow beards so a beard shows age. A common trick when using older actors for teen roles is to keep the boys even scruff free. Also if you have a character that generally have a beard (especially a full one) and you want to flash back to a younger day, first thing we do is shave off the beard. You want to use the same actor for a character at 16 and 26, the older version at least has scruff. Even if the person doesn’t really look older or younger we buy into the implied information (generally)

I love my mans beard, its a proper thick beard that frames his features and looks great. I dont understand women who dont like hairy men.. whats the world coming too.
I follow nature. Clean shaven is the vice of modern day grooming products…Gillette, ect… To follow the nature of your gender and genetic code is the ultimate act of personal freedom. Discard your fears and be what you want to be.
